Wrestling An A.R.

I would say that most Annual Reports (AR’s) are pretty easy to find good imagery for. If you’re designing for eBay or a financial institution, all you need are some happy family shots. Laughing, having a picnic in the park. Family roughhousing. Having a family barbecue. Easy. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) was nothing like that.

When you need to get imagery for a professional sideshow, iStockphoto just won’t cut it. You gotta do some hunting.

Thankfully, one of my best friends has always been obsessed with wrestling. He just so happened to have a large WWE calendar. AND a replica title belt. So I took some shots of the belt, which later got the PhotoShop treatment. As did the pages of the calendar I had to scan twice because of their size. All the pages were in colour as well, but in an attempt to make WWE appear classy and worthy of investing in, I decided on a more muted look, contrasting the previous year’s very colourful AR.

Overall, I’m really pleased with how it turned out. I wasn’t able to get a decent photo of Vince McMahon, but his signature is good enough for now.
